Depression just doesn't go away.

Hearing about the suicides of Anthony Bourdain & Kate Spade got me to thinking about this issue. I remember starting to feel depressed at the age of 13 years old or even earlier. At the age of 8 years old my parents had to work long hours just to make ends meet and I had to take care of my two younger siblings. To have that on your shoulders at a young age is difficult not having a home cooked meal to come to or your parents to ask you how school went is painful. When you see your classmates being picked up by mommy or daddy and you find yourself walking home alone is one of the saddest things. I remember starting my period in sixth grade and crying in the bathroom at home because I was bleeding and didn't know what was going on but having an idea. At the age of 13 I remember feeling alone and crying in my room wanting to cut myself and feeling so angry not knowing why and all com ing back to feeling alone. Depression doesn't go away with materialistic things with money it doesn't discriminate if your rich or poor or what lifestyle you live. It can hit you at anytime and anywhere in the world. At the age of 27 I still at times have episodes of depression that come and go. I push people away when this happens I just want to be alone and there is no explanation of why. Depression isn't talked about as much its like a fad that comes and goes when we see a celebrity commit suicide is when we look at it. Maybe we're all guilty of letting our daily lives get in the way of not checking up on our loved ones, but make time before there's no time left.
